Villian is 18/17/1.7 over 90 hands.  I had been in 2 showdowns with him where I had the goods and had plenty of respect at the table for being straight forward solid.  The guys 3 checks OOP just meant weakness to me.  Perhaps if I had bet the turn it would've been different.  But gentleman I REALLY feel this is my biggest cash game leak.   Whenever an oppty' like this comes up, and it doesn't often, but when I get a 'feel' that I KNOW the guy is weak for whatever reason it is, I can't make myself not try to make them lay it down if I have been playing super solid at the table.  I rock in MTT's and in cash this one play usually eats up 2-3 hours of profit in one idiotic debacle and I curse myself for it everytime.  So I figured this time I'd post it, get my a** reemed from all angles, than pick myself up, dust me off, and try to learn from this mistakes.    I swear these plays are why I'm a break even player in cash.  Humiliate me.  I'm ready.

The 3B pre-flop is pretty terrible:
What hands do you think he will continue with?
What hands do you think he will fold?

I usually bet even smaller then this when I have 3B pre-flop (you can bet half pot F+T+R and still get it AI before showdown), especially when I have position. If I wanted to put in another barrel I would do it on the turn here, so extremely unlikely that he will float with nothing on the flop.

So you will get called on the river close to 100% of the time, especially when his range is probably only QQ-TT and sometimes some random AA/KK/AK(?).

There are no bad choices, either you succeed otherwise you learn.

He could flat with 99+ AKo+

Everything else he would throw away.  It hit me last night in hindsight the size of the 3 bet.  I think this was a 'residual' 3 bet sizing after a donk that left the table a few hands before that was sitting in the same seat.  The other donk was calling ALL my 3 bet sizing and than check raising all in to my cbets.  I finally got him to stop flatting my 3 bets once I got up to $4.  And after that 3 bet, well....I turned myself into the donk.

If I were on his end I would've called as well 'as it was played'.

You made very big preflop raise.. 2.25$-2.5$ will be Ok in this situation.
8s 5d 7c <- this is not the best board for c-bet.. You can just check.
King was good scary card.. fire 2th barrel. Hands like 99-JJ often doesn't continue the game.

P.S. I like using poker hand converter ;)

3bet too big
board very wet to cbet on
didnt' take initiative when proper scare card comes off on turn
weak play at end that look liked desperate 'only way i can win' play
thank you for your input and encouragement
